Auckland Weekend: Christmas Wonderland, Noodle Market and Victoria Park

The festive season has officially started! We marked the first weekend of December with so much fun at the following places in Auckland CBD.

Christmas Tree Shopping

We picked up our first real Christmas tree. We love the fresh smell and the kids enjoyed decorating it over the weekend. We got our tree at 19 Clifton Road, Herne Bay, Auckland. The place was in a cozy neighborhood and the lovely lady sold it to us for NZD $30.

Sky Tower Christmas Wonderland

There is a charming winter wonderland under the sky tower. The kids bumped into Santa and they were so happy getting their treats and telling him what they wanted for Christmas. The twinkling carousel was a hit with all of the kids taking turns to ride it. There were cute gingerbread houses, beautiful decorations and a giant Christmas tree perfect for photographs.

The Christmas Wonderland is FREE to enter and explore. If you visit on the weekend, there’s a live entertainment too. We went around 5pm just in time for the performers, live band and lots of dancing.

Victoria Park

We actually parked near Victoria Park and walked our way to the Sky Tower. We’re constantly amazed by how creative and well-thought the playgrounds are in Auckland. This one at Victoria Park was just wonderful and with the beautiful weather, we just loved hanging out in the play area. The kids took turns on the slides, swings, monkey bars, seesaw and more.

Night Noodle Market

Now, just a few steps away from the park, we spotted the Night Noodle Market. From December 1 to 10, the food festival will showcase a hawker-style vibe and delicious dishes to try at Victoria Park.

And because it’s summer in New Zealand, there are live entertainments and festivities going on as well. It’s FREE ENTRY to the noodle market. And there are just so many food booths to choose from all the participating vendors. Whether you’re craving for dim sum, dumplings, curry, noodle dishes, grilled bbq meat and so much more, you’ll never run out of choices at the foodie hotspot.

We particularly loved the Gelato Messina coming all the way from Australia. The great ball of fryer was heavenly delicious. It was made of a deeply fried banana gelato, passionfruit, caramel and coconut pudding for NZD $12. We also tried the pork bbq for NZD $13 and liempo NZD $14 at Hoy Pinoy and fresh prawn summer rolls at Vietnamese delight for NZD $10.

Needless to say, we went home with a happy tummy and another amazing weekend in Auckland! Here’s a quick video of our happy day! #AucklandWeekend
