Mommy in Macau: Festive Season

I still can’t believe it’s already the last month of 2016! Moving to Macau and leaving Dubai still seems like yesterday. No matter where you are in the world, Christmas season is definitely the most wonderful time of the year! This week – we’ve seen how the holiday spirit has enveloped the whole city and we love it!

Winter in Macau

You can walk along Cotai and marvel at the Christmas decors that surround the street on every corner. The Venetian Macao is simply breathtaking with poinsettias on the entrance bridge, a huge Christmas tree and festive designs all throughout the structure. You can go inside the City of Dreams on the opposite side and be equally astonished by the beautiful setting.

Magnificent Morpheus

This week, Morpheus was unveiled at City of Dreams. One of the late Dame Zaha Hadid’s legacy with it’s simple yet stunning design, the spectacular structure is a culmination of hard work by a great team including my husband so there was a sense of pride seeing it rise in grandeur. The construction is still underway and more intricate details are being done.

Date Night at Din Tai Fung

Home is wherever Joel and Clare will always be. I keep saying that to myself because I feel grateful for so many things this festive month. What a feat it has been for my small Salangsang family to move here to Macau and embrace it as our new home. It has not been without struggles but we always make it through like we always do.

I cherish these moments with just the three of us. And these weekly date nights are the best when we discover new dining spots or just hang out in our favorite ones. Din Tai Fung has a Manila and Dubai branch and this one in Macau located at SOHO at City of Dreams was superb. Our final bill for dinner with two adults and one child was MOP $330. Nothing beats a night of Xiaolongbao with the people you love the most! A bit dramatic but true!

Charming Carmo Garden

Clare and I have our weekly walks. It could be a simple walk to the park, playground, supermarket or shops but there’s always something special about it. This week, we did it at our favorite Church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The lush greenery of the Carmo Garden is refreshing to the eyes and heart. We have been contemplating on many things about our family life lately and these walks are fantastic exercise both mentally and emotionally.

Green Tea Ice Cream

It may be the winter season but there’s no stopping us from having ice cream and trying the Green Tea flavor at Häagen-Dazs in SOHO at City of Dreams. We had our first taste of Green Tea Ice Cream at Grand Hyatt’s Beijing Kitchen so we wanted to try it once again. Clare loved it and so did I. Moving to Macau has made us Tea lovers of some sort and that’s a good thing!
